Yay! It really is Spring! I've been doodling kids shouting for joy alot lately. I guess it's because I'm so happy I'm having more opportunities to do what I love! A few days ago I did caricatures at an event at the Woodlands Country Club up in Falmouth, ME. Here's one of the couples I did. Not sure if they were a father and daughter or not? Here are the Caricatures I did last week for the winner of my little Guess the Married Couple contest! I did this caricature last Fall at the Regatta Conference Center in Eliot, Maine!

This not only my submission to Illustration Friday this week, but is also an illustration from my new book for middle-school aged kids soon to be published by One Voice Press. The theme this week at I F is Farewells, and this scene seemed very fitting! The main character in the book is Evan , a fourteen year old boy charged with taking care of his siblings. He takes them to a Baha'i children's class for the first time, and feels a need to leave when one of him little twin brothers acts up. Will he stop being mad at his little brother? Will he learn to handle this kind of situation better? It's all in the book, Babysitter Blues, coming out this summer with One Voice Press! www.onevoicepress.com        www.illustrationfriday.com

Well, Spring is here with summer soon to follow! I am so looking forward to some upcoming Silhouette events coming up this year. Thought I share some highlights from my silhouetting adventures from last year! Here are some silhouettes I cut last year at The Ipswich Ale Festival at Spencer-Pierce-Little Farm, an Historic New England House. Cutting beards was especially fun! Looking forward to possibly doing this event again in September! Also last summer I was delighted to have been invited to do Silhouettes at Jeffers Tavern in Historic York Village! I spent a day sharing silhouettes with the Junior Docents during their training program! Alot of fun and everyone was so nice! And this was my booth last year at Alfred Festival in Alfred, Maine. I plan to be there again this year! Happy Spring!!

Here's my new submission for Illustration Friday! The Theme for this week is Wild. I thought it would be fun to have Little Red Riding Hood actually walking away from the wolf. She has a wild smile on her face, don't you think! http://illustrationfriday.com/

This is a thank you card design I worked on at last years Spirit of Children's Literature Conference at Green Acre Baha'i School in Green Acre, ME. It was such a wonderful atmosphere as aways! There's always time to work on your own projects and to learn new skills with hands-on arts workshops led by Jeannie Hunt and talks by wonderful speakers that share not only spiritual insights based on the Baha'i writings but also information on the arts and pursuing your particular calling as an artist. There's also plenty of opportunities to network with other artists and share ideas. This years conference will be held from August 23rd to August 28th at Green Acre Baha'i School in Eliot, ME For more information got to: www.greenacre.org My thank you cards are available at my etsy shop! https://www.etsy.com/listing/121250266/thank-you-card-with-ninepointed-stars?ref=shop_home_active I also want to let everyone know that My husband Larry and I are making ou...

Here's my new submission to Illustration Friday. The theme this week is Urban. I had fun collaging this design and decorating around the edges! The dog silhouette I used in this design is based on the custom silhouette I just finished for an Etsy client.  I love doing silhouettes of dogs from photos, which is easier than doing them with a live dog, but I'm getting better at that. The dogs still don't pose too well, but I guess I'm getting quicker.  www.etsy.com/designsbyleona http://illustrationfriday.com/
