Caricatures, Silhouettes and Illustrations by Leona Hosack

Hello all!  A mermaid, a man and his best friend, gargoyles, a day at the beach, a family in love with each other! I so appreciate that lately, during these weird and challenging times, I have had many chances to create artwork for people that have great imaginations for unique Christmas gifts to give to their families and friends! I did all of the portraits pictured below in the last month and a half! A caricature of a girl as a mermaid drawn from a photo of the girl in a mermaid costume on a lake that her family frequents! Ordered through my Etsy shop. A caricature of a man and his dog ordered through my Etsy shop. A caricature of a fun-loving couple as gargoyles, (which is a memento of a specific event special to them) also ordered through my Etsy shop! A caricature portrait of her family requested by my friend!   A graphite drawing of the photo below! Have a great New Years!  

  Quarentine Projects! What things or projects I have been able to focus on during the last 5 or 6 months during Quarentine that I may not have done before? This is a question I've been asked a few times recently. I appreciate that I already had some projects in the works and something to focus on besides all the changes going on around us! I've was pretty busy but not so busy that I didn't have time to walk on the beach several times a week with my sweet husband, which was and still is absolutely wonderful!  I learned a few more chords on the ukelele! And like everyone else I learned and am still learning a lot more about reaching out to friends online via Zoom and other platforms! I finally had time to finish the illustrations for two children's books that I was in the middle of illustrating. One is the third in a series of Mr. Muffins books, written by Bill Pagum. The other a middle reader called Jelly Bean Jones written by Jane Fraser. And I'm about to launch in...

  Salt River Performs! Been checking out different videos of Salt River on line and pulled this up from two years ago on You Tube. We did this concert for the Summer Concert Series at Durham Library, in Durham, NH. It was a very fun concert featuring Mike Rogers on his amazing blues harmonica! My first Caricaturing gig of 2020! It was in New Hampshire about an hour from where I live in Southern Maine. It was a sweet sixteen birthday party, where it seemed like everyone of the twenty-five or so girls there had miniskirts or very short dresses on! No boys at this party though, except for the brother and his friend above! I really had so much fun drawing these caricatures! Hoping to be able to continue doing caricatures in the near future! Celebrating 10 years pursuing my art and looking forward to the next ten!  Ten years ago in 2010 I started doing silhouettes and began my Etsy shop! In 2012 I started adding Caricatures to my shop and started doing them in public. In 2014 I started connecting to online agencies and began to do silhouettes and caricatures for private parties, festivals  and weddings for hire! Some pictures included below! Before that time I had  illustrated one book, and had had some illustrations in a several collections of stories and some children's magazines, but not often.
